Common phrases and expressions about "sleep".

* Take a cat nap = sleep for a very short time.

*Drowsy (adjective) = to feel sleepy 

*Drowsiness (noun)  "I feel a little drowsy."

"This medicine may cause drowsiness."

When you're drowsy, it's common to:

* Drift off

*Doze off

*Nod off

These phrases mean those moments when you are just beginning to fall asleep.

* It's common to: Drift off or Nod off after dinner;

* Doze off during that boring meeting.

* Drift off when you're riding in the car.

* Sound asleep/Sleeping deeply   "I didn't hear you vacuuming.  I was sound asleep."

* Toss and Turn = When you have trouble sleeping and you can't get comfortable.  You move around in bed a lot.   "I didn't sleep at all last night.  I tossed and turned."
