Words that mean "beginner"
Jul 12, 2024When someone is a beginner, or is learning something new, there are some common words that describe that in different contexts.
Pay attention to pronunciation
- Newbie, or Newb' "I'm a newbie."
- Rookie (has the same vowel sound as "book" and "look"). This word usually describes someone who's in training. "He's a rookie"
- Novice - someone who is at a 'beginner' level and does not have experience
- Amateur - someone who has skills, but they are not a professional
- Green - also means someone who does not have the experience yet. "He/she is still green."
- Kid - the new person "He's the new kid."
